Default 2004 Limited AWD V8: Towing capacity

Anyone know the towing capacity on this vehicle? I've got the 4.6L V8 AWD with the Class III/IV towing package. The owner's manual has me thoroughly confused (it says the 4X2 can tow more than either the 4X4 or AWD and I'm wondering if that is some kind of printing error) and I can't read the label on the door. I've heard anywhere from 5500-7500 pounds, but then the manual says only like 3,500 pounds.

Anyone know the correct weight? Thanks!

I would call a dealership if i were you just to make sure you get the correct information about this question. With it being a 2004 there should be plenty of people at a dealership with info on hand.

Don't have a manual to refre to but, the max towing capacity whenproperly equipped should be as follows.

V-6 4x2: 5780
V-6 4x4: 5380
V-6 AWD: 5380
V-8 4x2: 7140
V-8 4x4: 7000
V-8 AWD: 7000
It is normally based on engine size, drive type and gears. A 4x2 will always have a higher tow capacity as the engine and tranny doesn't have to turn the front drive assemblies and carry the additional drive assembly weight.

Thanks for the info. Got a boat to tow that is 5500 lb "wet" and wanted to make sure I was OK.
