2006 EXPLORER SQUEALING AIR INTAKE
I have a 2006 Explorer XLT V6 4x4 that I recently took to my local Ford dealer for a squealing noise coming from under the hood. The noise occures before the gears shift around 2500 rpm and stops after shifting. It only happens with lower gears and seems louder when cold. Service advisor told me this was normal noise and that it was a plastic air intake that causes the problem. The noise is very noticeable and I cannot believe this is normal. Can anyone help me?

Well its a normal noise for Ford..lol..but I had the same problem in my 1999 Ford Explorerand had to replace the idle contral valve. I wouldn't advise you let the dealer do it cause they'll charge you an arm and a leg. The part is no more than $70-75.
Good Luck!
