Default 99 Explorer 5.0 XLT AWD Suspension Lowering?

I was wondering if it is possible to lower my 99 XLT Explorer AWD? I need to replace the suspension due to age and the fact that the bushings are shot. I was thinking about going 1-1.5 inches. However, I do not want to ruin the geometry of properly set up suspension. I want to do it right the first time.

If she were a 4X4, then I would just lift it and be done with it. There are plenty of quality kits out there. I am just having trouble finding any kit to lower it. Someone suggested that I just go with new air shocks/struts, but I know that the suspension is too complicated to just do that and have it done right.
