99 explorer problems

99 explorer problems
i have an 8 cyl 99 explorer, i have 2 issues with the truck that nobody can figure out. please help if anyone has any input
1- loud engine noise above 40mph, gets quieter with higher octane gas but the engine is designed to take regular 87 octane gas
2- A/c runs ok but shuts off after about 30-40 minutes and the fan still blows but no cold air, same situation for the heat too. freon is filled up, no leaks. please help if possible
