More than likely it would be the sensor gone bad and not the sender... right?

Sensor and sender are basically the same word.

Temp. sensors are usually either located on the intake manifold or the engine block. They'll either have one or two wires attached (in most cases one). When you remove a temp. sensor it will leak a lot of antifreeze so have the new one ready to put in (or better yet drain the antifreeze first). If the antifreeze gets to be a mess - pour a cup of water over the mess to thin it out. Antifreeze let to dry on wires will likely cause short circuits and grounding problems.
