Default Check Engine Light and Hesitation

I have a 1997 Ford Explorer V* AWD with 115,000 miles on it. Last week it started hesitating it seemed between 3rd and 4th - no big deal. Now, since Sunday, it is almost a constant hesistation almost like it wants to stall out. Also, when at idle it does the same. Yesterday morning the Check Engine light came on and has stayed on - sometimes it flashes? Lastly, this morning it smelt like something was burning, all guages look okay. Any ideas? Thanks

Default RE: Check Engine Light and Hesitation

A flashing check engine light is usually a more critical problem and should be diagnosed as soon as possible. Most auto parts stores will scan the computer for codes for free.
