Default Check Engine-- P0401 "Insufficient flow"

Anyone got any advice? I’ve got a 2001 Explorer (w/ 95000 miles) that stalls slightly while idling at the stoplight. My first guess was the fuel filter so I changed this. NOPE! Next, I thought that it might have been some carbon buildup in the IAC valve so I took it off and used some non-chlorinated brake cleaner to clean inside of this valve. Two days later, I noticed that this didn’t do it either. I next tried to change the PCV valve for the first time. I pulled off a couple of hoses from the intake manifold searching for the PCV valve before finding it at the very back of the manifold. After finding it, the original looked good but I replaced it anyway. Now the check engine light is coming on b/c of an “EGR insufficient flow detected” (P0401). I tried resetting it by unhooking the battery but it keeps coming back on. Any suggestions on how to resolve this w/o taking it back and forth to the dealership?

I had the same issue (check enine light, rough idle, and stalling) with my 2001 Explorer Sport. Had about 105,000 miles at the time. Turned out to be a bad Differential Pressure Feedback EGR sensor (DPFE).

Hope this is helpful.

Thanks, atvar2003, I will try this. It has got to be cheaper than going back and forth to the dealership.
