Default Flat towing a 1999 Explorer

I have the tow bracket, I just have to finish getting it installed.

My question is I need to pick up my motor home from the dealer pretty soon and will not yet have the Explorer programed to be able to put into neutral, so will it be safe to tow it 80 miles home by leaving it running either in neutral or in drive so the transmission and transfer case will still get lubrication?

Thank You
Michael Grace
