Default headlights come on by themselves

I think that I have a gremlin in my 98 explorer. I don't know if it's the alarm maulfunctioning, the horn doesn't sound. the lights just come on while it's sitting in the driveway. The headlights will turn off but the parkinglights stay on. But then in a few minutes they'll turn off. Then in a couple of hours it'll do it again. any ideas would be greatly appreciated.

Default RE: headlights come on by themselves

do you have the auto head-light option?
The control is a lever under the rearview mirror. the slide lever is for the time-delay to turn off the lights after you leave the car.. you can turn off the feature by pushing the lever all the way to the left.
I always use this feature so I never forget to turn on my headlights.
