Default my 97 explorer

i just bought a 97 explorer 4 wheel drive, there is a vibration in the steering wheel and a loud humming noise that increases as the truck goes faster, it seems to be the front rear. right side. i am wondering if anyone has had this problem and if it could be related to the 4 wheel drive, the 4 wheel is only supossed to come on if needed or if you put it in low or high, tried replacing the axel cv joint.. could it be the hub? bearings? any help would save me from part buying....ty ed

Hi, check your direction/suspension. Put the truck in neutral with the wheels off the ground and turn the suspected wheel manually, you might hear like a grinding noise, it could be the wheel bearing. Does the sound change when you drive and move the truck to the right an left?

Nic.

Bad wheel bearing.
Should be able to jack up each wheel and spin them by hand, you should feel or hear which ones are noisey or rough
