Default new tranny

I own a 1999 4wd 4l Explorer whit a ruend automatic tranny, I am having problems finding a new tranny or a place that sels rebuild trannys and has a very good reputation.
I live in Iceland and the company who services Ford hear wants to rape me, thy want to charge me $$8.300 fore the repear.
So please guys/girsl help me out if you can.

If you can handle taking it out and putting it in yourself mabey you should look into shipping here to the US for a rebuild.[hr]It looks like you would save some money!

Shipping from Iceland would about $600 and back would be $? then the rebuild $?, I allso heve to pay custums of the shipping back.
I think it would be time consuming and not much cheaper than just buying a new one, or one allredy rebuilde.
