O/D warning inidcator
On our 2003 Ford Explorer EB, the O/D warning indicator comes on when traveling at speeds over 45MPH. I think this happened a couple years ago too.
The manual states to contact the Dealer if the indicator appears. Anyone know if any damage is being done driving with it? Is it a computer malfunction or is something mechanically wrong? Does not appear to affect the gas mileage, although we haven't driven it that much.

What I know about O/D.
From what I know about the O/D, if it was engaged it would be winding out pretty bad. The only time you should have it off is when you are city driving and not exceeding 40 miles an hour. If it's coming on by itself, then it could be a faulty sending unit. Why not run it by the local auto parts store and have them check for codes? That could save you a lot of worry. Another thing you might do is check to see if there is a recall on your model/year. Let us know what you find out.

No recall notices....the day after we set an appointment with our mechanic, the light went off. Apparently something might have been stuck or the computer re-set itself, but it has been over a month and has not come back on. I sort of remember this happening a couple years ago where it was on for awhile and then went off by itself.
