My parents have a 95 Explorer. V6 Auto. My dad said that they went to town and he stopped at the doctors office, turned the car off and did what he needed to. When he got back in to start it back up it started ran fough and died. Its ran fine for years. they bought it brand new in 95. Now it turns over but will not start. I have checked everything I could think of under the hood. Also I dont hear the whir that you usually do when you turn the ignition on. Could the fuel pump be bad or what else could it be.

 

Sounds like the fuel pump. Im not sure if that year has it but check in the owners manual. See if it has a fuel cut off switch maybe somebody tapped the bumper in the parking lot and it triggered try that.
