92 Explorer wont start! Replaced solenoid!
My explorer wouldn't start. I would put the key in the ignition and turn it, then I would pop the hood and cross the solenoid to get it to start and it worked. So i was told i had to replace the fender mounted starter solenoid and I did that and I still have the same problem. I had my viper alarm removed and put a new battery. Still the same problem. I'm thinking it's my ignition switch. Please help. I'm not too familiar with this truck. Thanks!
Auto trans??
First,, does it not crank in both P and N if selected (if auto).. If it cranks in 'either or' position then the trans range sensor is bad.. If both trans range selections/positions are dead, then you can usually varify a bad ignition switch by testing for current/power to the 'small' lug on the solenoid if the ignition switch is moved to the start/crank position.. You can use a test light or meter to test for key/crank current at the solenoid..

It runs and the starter does turn over when I cross the terminals at the solenoid. How would I use the test light? Sorry, I'm still learnin'. Thanks again!
