power steering pump bleeding??
Does anyone on here no were to get a DEVAC TOOL for removing air from power steering system? i have tried around local places such as autozone and advanced but no luck so far and i got a wicked moaning and whining sound coming from my power steering system.. by the way it just had all power steering parts replaced except the gear box so air in the system is the only problem i can think of there being..any info would be appreciated thanks

RE: power steering pump bleeding??
hi there,
i am also interested in knowing any information concerning a tool(delvac) or a process besides turning the steering wheel all the way one side to the other and back repeatedly so as to getany air out of the system after a major repair within the p/s system. I just received a 1996 explorer 4.0 with over 220,000 on the clock. the problem is no power to the steering more or less, well more assist to left turning then right turning. it's basically like trying to drive with a stalled engine.....no power assist to the steering. and so i was told the box/rack was r&r'd twice and just needs to be bled. upon further inspection the p/s fluid is dark brown to grayish not a nice clear red like one would expect.and so i plan to continue with my process of elimination and r&r the p/s pump....what else can i do? except keep my fingers crossed that the replaced rack hasn't been contaminated also since done . whatever?
thanx dawgg,
