I'm new to this forum and could really use some ideas on why the rear window glass on my 2007 Explorer opens by itself while driving down the road. I tried disconnecting the switch thinking it might be faulty, but it made no difference. It's driving me crazy! Any suggestions?

 

Does the window go all the way down all the time? Does it go part way down?
Will it go back up if you use the switch to move it?

 

It's the window in the rear hatch that pops open on it's own. I disconnected the switch in case it was faulty, but it didn't make any difference.... Frustrating.

 

If the wires to it's release mechanism are disconnected, it has to be something mechanical in the latching mechanism that is not holding it latched.

 

Thanks Hanky, that makes sense, but when I close it and try to pull it open, it won't open. I have to push the release button. It seems the latch is holding it securely. Scratching my head on this one....
