Default Speedo quit working?

1999 Eddie Bauer explorer xlt v8 awd

Thinking it's the vehicle speed sensor?
Now on this car is it located on the transmission, transfer case or rear diff?
Drivers or passenger side?

Have not crawled under it yet and can't get a straight answer. Bad back thing.
If transmission is it on the drivers side?
If rear diff does it share the same location as the abs sensor on the top of the pumpkin?

Thanks a bunch guys.
Need to get this resolved.
