Default towing

i have a 1999 explorer v8 with automatic 4wd i was wondering if i could pull a car for 6 six hours with out any damage to the trans, this is a one time tow just need to get a car to my house. i'll be towing it with a car dolly the car weights less then 3000 pounds

It should be able to do it as I pulled a 85 toyota truck on a trailer with my 4.0 v6 and it never gave me a problem. Just check the transmission fluid and make sure it is full and not burnt. If the explorer is shifting too much from overdrive to third gear alot then take it out of overdrive.

I agree with above, just make sure you leave out of overdrive. Don't give it the opportunity to bounce back and forth in and out of o/d. Also give yourself plenty of room to stop.
