i have a 2004 explorer and just from last week im unable to open the rear passenger door from the outside or inside. thought maybe the child lock is on, but i was able to check and see that it is unlocked. when i press on the central unlock button it unlocks and goes back to lock the position. i researched and there is no issue like this and couldn't find anything. i tried to remove the door panel but unable because the door is not open. im running out of ideas, can anyone help me out.

Have you tried hitting the unlock while pulling on the in/outside handle?
Do you have the instructions for removing the door trim panel?
There's just one lower panel screw, and one behind the interior handle trim bezel (snap on fit) and remove the window switch bezel (snap on fit).. The panel lifts straight up/off, not pulled outward..

I have tried hitting the unlock and tried to pull the handles both handles still no luck. to access the lower panel screw, i cannot because its covered for the body trim. is there another way?

 

Just make'n sure we're on the same page,, Tried hitting the switch/unlock 'as you pull' the door handle? Odd that its only the rear, only?..

oh you mean the switch on the driver's side or passenger side?no have not tried that. will try and see that
