Hi Folks,

I just purchased a used 2006 F150 XLT 4x4 and really love it. Except for the plastic tailgate cap. It has plastic all around the top of the bed, which I haven't broken yet, but I already broke off the tailgate cap. I don't want to make a big deal at the dealership about it because a replacement plastic cap would just break off again. It happens when I load a bike into the truck and when I hop out of the bed. No real biggie but does anyone know of a sturdier cap I can get to put on there? Maybe a metal one that screws on instead of the plastic one that just clips on? I've taken the oem one off just because it kept popping off anyway. Thanks for the help!

 

I'd ask the dealer about it. Maybe they shouldn't break like that, and they may replace it for you.

 

Truck parts and accessories stores probably sell metal chrome and/or polished caps for the tailgate.
