Default 1975 ford gas mileage

alrite i have a 1975 ford f-150 with the 390 in it and it didnt get good gas mileage to start out with but a couple weeks ago it started getting way worse. i looked around and i couldnt see any gas leaking. i was told maybe a carburetor kit would be the solution. any thoughts?
thanks

Default Carburetor change

Have a 75 F100 4x4 with 390 and C6. Went through Holley (great power, horrible mileage), Motorcraft (clip the spring on the throttle valve), Autolite, and then bought a 650 Edelbrock on ebay two years ago. Have a Offenhauser intake and the Edelbrock and increased my mileage from 10-11 to 13-14 highway.
