1978 f150 ignition no spark problem

460 engine.

I have no spark. i just tried replacing the ignition coil to no avail. i installed an inline spark tester between the coil to dist wire and the distributor and no spark. I haven't tested resistance yet but maybe the wire from the coil and distributor is bad. the tester was plugged into this wire. I have 12 volts at the coil leads with the ignition turned on. I was wondering what other problems can happen before the coil even if the leads of the brand new coil are getting 12 volts from the control module. ballast resistor or other module problem? thanks....

ok so i tested the coil to dist wire and it's ok. i also connected the spark light tester between the coil and directly to ground and nothing. just confused here since it's a brand new coil and it's getting 12 volts.?

2 biggest problems were usually the module itself (can be tested) or the pick up coil in the distributor.

Does the negative side of the coil flash while cranking the engine?

I'm having the same issue and the negative side does not flash. It is steady on. What does this mean? I replaced the module after reading this thread. Still no spark
