Default 2009 4X4 Maintenance

I am considering purchasing a 2008/2009 F150 4x4. I am being told that 4x4's are no problem as long as you do the maintenance. Can someone tell me what maintenance is required and how often it needs to be done. My need for a 4X4 is marginal but it seems like there are as many nice 4x4's out there as there are 2x4's. I really don't want to get into 4x4 problems so if the maintenance is not easy, I will stay away.

The 08 or 09 should have an electric switch to engage the 4 wheel drive. Usually a fuse may blow or if you go through a lot of trash, it can disengage wiring. I have an 07 and have not had any issues yet. I have a farm with 60 acres of woods on it and am always driving through junk. You may want to drain and refill the transfer case occasionally and drain anr refill the front axle the same as the rear differential.

Thanks for the responses. Sounds like the 4x4 is not a lot of maintenance. Think I will go that route. Thanks again.

Once you go with a 4X4, you know you will NEVER go back.
That's just a fact.
