2012 f150 with high mileage
If I am duplicating this post, beg pardon. First time here figuring it out. We are looking for a f150 and found a very clean Lariat package 2012 v8 5.0 fx4 with 171,000. We just need more power than our current Colorado to pull a camper, dry weight around 5.000. Opinions on whether we should keep looking or consider it. Will use very little other than putting around town otherwise and the camper is full-time in a spot. Just need for when we need to move...

Any service docs that are included?
Generally for higher mileage rigs (any manufacturer) trans life expectancy is or can be a concern. Not that there is one to be concerned about,, but something to check for service info and dates if docs are included,, and if known,, was the truck used for towing prior (?)
I wouldn't be alarmed at or over a higher mileage purchase, if the truck is clean, well maintained, and no blaring indications of heavy towing/hauling.. Having a trusted tech look it over prior to purchase, is good insurance as well. I've seen many a 5th wheel attachment holes in the bed covered over with a bed liner There can be quite a few indicators of typical use..
You can also have your local Ford Service Dept run an Oasis Report per the trucks VIN (usually Ownership/Reg proof is required, no cost) and any repairs under warranty, recalls/campaigns etc completed will be included in the report.
