Default 78 F-150 TAILLIGHTS/BRAKE LIGHTS

Hi all, new owner of a 78 f-150 4X4 351m, auto.

Having wiring issues. I put the parking lights on, both sides work(rear). Step on the brakes, left brake light goes on and right side is completely out. All wires underneath look clean and I checked the ground inside the taillight housings of the bed. Anyone familiar with this. Otherwise all my lights work.

Thanks, JR

Common problem for 'both' thefront/back lamps is the 'ground tang' in the light socket to loose the ground/circuit connection.. If so, their available aftermarket with the socket and pigtail harness.. You can use a stripped wire/test leadand ground it to the bulbs brass hub, and ground the other end to the chassis ground.. If the bulb functions correctly then the socket just lost the ground...

I tested it like you said and it worked perfectly. So now I'm off to get a new socket. Btw, one of the wires moves in and out of the socket which causes the light bulb to flicker. Thanks for saving me a lot of time.

Glad it was an easy fix...

Some of the best vintage trucks Ford ever built IMO...
