89 ford f-150 trouble
my dad have an 89 ford it has been a really good truck how ever there is about 280,000km on it and when you start it it rev ups to where it is supposed to be then dies down right away and idles around 500-600 rpm.it has done it for a few years now.when you put it in gear it will die unless you use the foot feed some times.so i changed the fuel filter it is the old cartilage style it ran great for the rest of the day even shifted better the next day i started it same thing what causes this? plugs wires cap is good to.is theauxiliary pump bad? there is a new fuel pump in the rear tank thats all we use. anther questionchanged oil today and know i notice that the oil gauge sit right at normal and does not move even when you turn the key on. there is a knock that at idle but does not get louder when you rev it. if there was no oil pressure even with the gauge reading at normal the engine light should come on right?
Thanks
Thanks
i have the exact truck, 89 lariat. my engine idles high and comes down, that engine idled higher. also next time you start it. make sure that no ac or heat is on. mine dies occasionally when i do this. the knocking in the beginning when you first start could come from a loose block.
