Default 98 F150 blinker issue

The right blinker is not working when the steering wheel is in the down position. If the steering wheel is in an upper position all seems to work fine. The left works with the wheel in any position. Is this in the switch in the column or possibly somewhere else?

Thanks, Kerwin

Sounds like a short in the switch somewhere...

Any idea what the cost is to replace the switch?

Just a guess, but if you have a shop do it I'd say around $100. You can probably buy the part for about $40. You could even call a junk yard to see if they have the part for your truck. It would be pretty inexpensive then, I would think. I'm just guessing at prices, so please don't hold me to it.

first check your wires into your multifunction switch for a pulled out pin because if it works fine when your steering is up and not when it is down then you lost contact ..then check the multifuction switch

At first thought, I thought this was a switch under the dash. Now I know better!! How do I get to the wiring to check this? Do I need to pull the steering wheel or is it just a matter of unplugging the switch?

Thanks for the help, Kerwin

I see you have the same issue as me with your turn signal. My right turn signal blinks super fast, however not all the time. I have replaced the flasher unit and it still does not work properly. I am starting to think it's the multi function switch. How did you replace your multi function switch?

Also how do I check the pins in a multifunction switch?

check the bulbs and grounds to the lights... I have had one side blink really fast on alot of vehicles and it was just because one bulb wasn't working.

That is a good idea on checking the bulbs and grounds before I tera apart the steering column. I am going to have to do this on left and right side now because the same issue is hapening on both sides, however the emergency flashers work fine? Go figure!
