Default 99 F-150 AC not blowing cold

My AC is not blowing cold. I have plenty of refrigerant and good pressure, the lower line is ice cold, the fuse is good. What do I check next?

Thank you.

If good pressure, what are your HIGH and LOW side readings at what ambient temperature? Is your fan motor running properly with good airflow from the vents? Does the vent move to it's proper position (VENT)? Does it go to MAX A/C without any problems?

Default AC not working

thanks for the reply. My lowside pressure is about 40. I haven't checked the high side. The vent and fan works fine in all the settings. The air just doesn't blow cold. I can hear and see the clutch engaging. What else should I check?

Thanks,

ken

What is the outside ambient temperature when your measuring the low side pressure? Ambient outside temperature plays a part in pressure redings and system operation. This will somewhat help in diagnosis without having true LOW and HIGH side pressure readings. Is the compressure engaging and staying engaged? or is it cycling off and on every few seconds?

The outside temp is around 70 F. The compressor is definately cycling every few seconds. I tested the pressure (low side) with the guage that came with the refridgerant can and it was about 40 psi. The low line is ice cold, but the top line feels more warm than cold. Thanks for your help.

With an outside ambient temp, the low side pressure will normally run between 35-40 PSI while the high side would be 145-160 PSI. The high pressure line should be HOT to the touch. However, since your compressor is cycling every few seconds, it may only get warm. Short cycling is normally the most common sympton for low refrigerant charge. I would try hitting the system with one can of freon for starters.
