Default Cranks but will not start

My wife got into our 5.4 L Expedition this morning and the engine cranks just fine but the engine will not start. Any ideas as to what I can check for? I am going home at lunch to see if I can get it running for her. Thanks,

You need to see if the fuel pump is running for the first 2 seconds the key is in the on (not start) position. Then check all the fuses. Let us know what you find.

She called about 30 minutes ago and said she tried it again and it cranked up. Looks like I have an intermittent problem. Oh boy!! Thanks for the info. If I find out anything concrete, I will get back on the forum.

Well. Still have the problem. Sometimes it starts and sometimes it does not. Put the OBD on it and found no codes. Still a mystery to me. Any other suggestions to look for? Right now, the only thing I know to do is to disconnect the battery and reconnect to see if I clear a fault somewhere. Shot in the dark.

No. I have not looked for spark because usually when it acts up, I am ready for work and can't get dirty. If it acts up this weekend, I will definitely do what you recommend. Wish there was an easy way to check for spark. Removing the coil over plug is a bit of a pain but not impossible for the front 2.
