Default electronic throttle control issues

my 06 5.4 fx4 supercrew, 129k, keeps giving the "wrench" light for electronic throttle control, and it is not giving any other codes either. if i turn the truck off for 20-30 seconds it starts back up like nothing is wrong. does anyone know what i can do to resolve the issue?

What is the exact code number? We have found bad throttle bodies, bad TPS and chaffed wiring.

there is no other exact codes. the "wrench" light comes on and it will idle up to around 2000. i looked in the owners guide and it says that it is an electronic throttle control problem and it is in failsafe/limp home mode.

A high end scan tool will read the codes that will turn on the wrench light. Without the code, it is just a guessing game. See my first post. There are a lot of things that may cause the problem.

Have you been able to check the throttle plate for deposits. Common problem. Even after cleaned will require a few trips for PCM to adapt to clean throttle plate info.
Worth a try.

One other thing to quickly check is for obvious wiring problems to and from the TP sensor and the throttle actuator motor(on the opposite side of the TB, has 2 wires). Otherwise, you'll need a code for more specific info. These had a lot of problems, especially at this milage.
