Default engine runs rough and stalls

Hello to all:

I have a 1993 ford f-150 4x4 5.0. I recently installed new plugs (motor craft), new cap, new wires. All of a sudden the truck starts and stalls right away. It run rough and the idle moves up and down. I checked for crossed wires and I brought it up on tdc and checked distributor postition as to # 1 position. I checked for vacuum leaks, the check engine light come on and goes off. I have sprayed starting fluid looking for vacuum leaks. I am at my wits end. when I am driving the engine changes rpm's. Any thoughts
Thanks
Lou

try a new dist cap...sounds like the one you got may be cracked..try putting the old stuf back on and see if it goes away. it sounds to me like a dist cap issue...

Check the codes and trouble shoot from there, I think you may have accidently unplug a connector. It sounds more like an air/fuel problem

If you look in a chilton or motor manual, or if your lucky enough to still have the decal under the hood, it shows the EXACT way the wires are to be routed with regards to which ones are routed on top and under each other. I can tell you from my own experience that if they are not routed in this manner that you can actually have a serious misfire situation.
