I have a 2005 f150 5.4l fx4 213k. Bought the truck at 183k with the tick was told to put in the disel oil rotellia oil. I did and it quieted down....did that about 3 regular oils changes worth replacing the oil filter each time. Recently bought the same weight oil in a different brand. Changed it 2 days later all hell broke loose. In the middle of driving it was shaking and not wanting to go over 45/50 took it home parked it. ((3 months ago my wifes van did about the same thing changed her coil pack....beautiful)) ordered me all 8 changed them no luck. Took to a machanic up the street he said change the oil and filter put the motorcraft in it. I did no change. He said you need to change the cam phasers. Ordered a 300$ kit off ebay came with phasers chain guided tensions everything. Replaced that as well as all new motorcraft spark plugs...started up was running very rough but seemed better. Went down the road check engine came on same issues(runs rough, dies slowing down or stopping unless i put in netural, put in drive or reverse and have to give it gas or it dies, sometimes i can have the pedal to the floor and no power then let off and power for a min))....changed all o2 sensors.....still no change....changed cam sensors....no different....unplugged the vct(s) drove it got up to about 60 still ran rough but didnt die when i was stopped. Went home plugged back in and drove it 10 miles later driving around on my way back home it was PERFECT ABSOLUTELY AMAZING out of no where....let it idle for 20 mins shut if off took the neg off battery to take off the check engine light. Waited 10-15 mins hooked it back up went back down the street took it to about 60/65 fine. Slowed down to turn around and right back to the same issues!!! Had it towed to ford. They said codes p0011 p0022 p0175 p0171 p0300 p0305 p0307 p0308. Took 3 coils up to ford which ohm at 8 changed 5 7 and 8 test drove it seemed ok for a min then exactly what it was doing when i had it towed there. Of course the tech is out until monday so left my truck at ford. I am completely loosing my mind over this.
