Default F150 Is intermittently hesitating on acceleration

Got an 2004 F-150 5.4 Triton that has some hesitation issues. Push the accelerator slightly and the engine just labors without gaining speed, but if I take my foot of the gas and then re-apply, it usualy starts going. I also feel that the engine simply does not have the usual power. Frequently, I smell gas in the cabin.

Had the truck in many times and did an induction service, smoke test for vacuum leak and even replaced the intake manifold - still have a intermitten issue. Any ideas? Thanks!

Maybe a blocked catalytic convertor...?

EGR valve sticking open and causing you to run rich...?

I know it's not the EGR valve, but the Catalytic converter is a possibility. Thanks, I appreciate it!

check the evap canister and hoses that run along the frame sometimes gas in the cabin means the vapors are not being reburnt in the evap . some times the canister valve back by the spare tire will not open lettting the vapors flow back to the engine for burning thats what i was told
