Hard Starting When Engine Warm '95 F150
My '95 F150 (302) when the engine is warm is slow to start. The engine spins freely but takes approx. 30 seconds to start. It seems to start quicker when I hold the gas pedal all the way to the floor.
It also will shut off when coming to a stop if I am not giving it gas. I brought the idle up which has helped but not completely cured the problem.
Anyone have any ideas?
It is a 302 with automatic trans.
Thanks

Another thought on this, way back when, I ran into one that would spike the injectors during crank when it was hot, never when it was cold. Found that the ground strap at the frame rail below the battery wasn't making good contact and the starter was grounding back through the injector circuit. Just a thought.
What kind of symptoms will a bad EGR have on a 1995 F150 (302 automatic)?
Today I pulled the throttle body and replaced the TPS (had a "bad tps" code), pulled the idle air control and cleaned it with carb cleaner, cleaned throttle body and the crud built up in the intake at the EGR. These things really cleaned up the idle and it runs a lot smoother now.
Truck starts fine cold but when warm it takes 30 seconds to start and you have to have the gas pedal about half way down for it to start. Take your foot off the gas and turn the key and it'll spin for about 15 seconds then sound like it's trying to start but won't keep running.
What about spark plugs? These are old and I'm sure probably need replacing but I'm hesitant to right now because of the ease in starting when cold.
Thanks

The truck should run and start with a bad EGR. You can disconnect the vacuum line going to it to see if it runs/starts better without it. If it does, then I'd replace it.
New spark plugs never hurt (when properly gapped.)
