Default idol causing tranny trouble

Good morning. I seem to always have strange problems anymore. Dealing with a 1994 F 150 4x4 with e40d auto tranny and a 5.8 engine.
I had a problem that I was sure that was tranny old and slipping and yet it was not. I had no idea what throttle problems could do to shifting.
I got a terrible bang shifting park to reverse or drive and drive to reverse and so on. I also got a very hard banging shift first to second. Tranny was the main suspect but noticing the idol was a we bit fast I started there.
When slowing the idol down from just above 800 to about 650 700 the problem went away. the shift from first to second went very smooth also. This was strange to me I would never guessed the 1 to 2 shift could be related to the throttle on the vehicle.
Now my problem I found the tps or the iac could be the culprit so I changed the tsp and cleaned the iac. this worked for a few miles then the idol went back up and was still very
eratic. So I read where in the ford manual you cant clean the iac only replace so I did and the idol is much better BUT it has a up and down rpm still about 75 rpm as far as I can tell on the scanner.
The way I see it the only other thing that would likely effect this would be the maf sensor on the passengers firewall. I have never delt with one of these so is it sound like a fluxuating idol could be caused by this maf sensor??? I think that or a vac leak has to be the problem??
Thanks for any input
Grumpy
