ok i will change out the sending unit and gauge first...that does seem like the most reasonable choice...Im not afraid to tear into anything but I've never built an engine or anything so I guess I just lack confidence in the abilty to do it right and thats the reason I was looking at a reman.

if you're going to rebuild one get a good core that someone had in a wrecked truck or buy a long block from a salvage yard. then that way you can still drive the truck while you're building the extra engine.

I have ran across one that came out of a 94 f150 and suppose to have around 100k for $300 might buy it and do that... This is off of the subject but I was going to bleed the clutch because sometimes I have to double pump it to get in gear and I think I found the slave cylinder is it mounted on the side of the transmission with a plunger coming out of it? If it is it looked new but couldnt find a bleed screw
