ok folks,,, I just got the leftover 2008 f150 with 5.4 engine.. far as the oil change,, what kind will do well? reguler oil or the total sythi. oil.. I noticed in the book and on the dip stick use 5-20.

I am using 5W30 Full Synthetic. Let's face it, how many of us actually change our normal oil right at the "Supposed to" Mark? I think you get the extra miles till change advantage, and I think the other properties of Synthetic are also a good thing.

ok.. I will trust ya folks... I will use 5-20.. have anyone had problems after more than 50,000 miles on that kind of oil? True is a tad light oil than the 5-30 which is the norm in today cars. The dealer told me if using the heavier weight oil, you can get a blown gasket after a period time. I read from one website on 5-20 brand.. stated that it give shorter life to engine using 5-20. I am doubted that statement.

 

I'd go with what the manual recommends in a fully synthetic.
