ANYONE HAVE ANY INFO ON CHIP FOR THIS TRUCK? I AM LOOKING TO PICK UP THE THROTLE RESPONSE AND MPG!!! WHAT BRAND,WHICH TYPE ETC.PLEASE REPLY FROM EXPIERENCE OF HAVNG INSTALLED THESE CHIP IN YOUR VAHICLE AND HANDS ON EXP OF OUTCOME.

I have no personal experience with chips or reprogramming my '99 5.4. I opted to forego the chip when I found out that the stated performance gains were highly dependent on using premium fuel exclusively after the reprogram. At least the Predator will let you put the original tune setup back in, or download 87 octane setups. If you put in a better air filter and cold air induction system, and install an unrestricted MAF sensor, you'll pick up significant HP gains. You'll be able to stick to 87 octane gas and you'll gain fuel economy at steady highway speeds. If you go a step further and replace the stock exhaust manifolds with headers, you'll have to retune or chip the truck anyway but by that time it's worth it to get a custom tune for your setup.

All things considered, I'm sticking to the air intake modifications only.

 

Chips are not the way to go if you are looking to unlock the potential of your computer and engine, programmers are a much better chioce, they dont restrict what you can do to the engine. Chips are pre-programmed to a generic standard, not neccesarily your truck, a programmer will calibrate your exact engine.
