Default POSI / Lockers 2WD

I have a 2007 F150 2wd. I am thinking about putting a locker in so I can move in the snow storms and not get stuck when doing mild off road. I do wish to be able to turn off the posi for when im driving on icy roads and such. But when I talked to a local 4x4 shop they said they are high maintence and even when a locker is turned off they still act like a limited slip differencial.
I was hoping I could find a set up that really let me LOCK and UNLOCK the differencial without any problems, does this not exist? And if so what would my best solution be?
Thanks

There is a locker that is made by ARB that uses air to engage the unit via a switch on your dash.

Check it out here:
