Rear Suspension Problem
Okay so I have a 2003 F150 4x4. I think I might have a problem with my right rear shock because when I am driving slowly or get out of the truck, the rear end squeaks a little bit. But when I stand in the bend and jump up and down, it doesn't squeak at all. It's annoying and was wondering if there were any ways to diagnose this problem without buying new shocks? Would love some opinions and advice. Thanks!
Stay in the truck and drive fast...
Rubber is cheaper than urethane. Thus, the use by MFGs. Rubber also ends up squeaking. Jumping up and down is a different motion to rocking sideways when getting in and out of the truck. To isolate the squeaker, start by spraying silicone on all of the rubber spring bushings. This includes the plastic slip pads between the leaf springs. If it doesn't go away, then spray the mounting bushings for the shock and anything else on the right side. I would also check for any item that may be rubbing such as the park brake cable housing rubbing on something (had that on my 07 Focus that would cause squeaking when going over bumps).
