Default Rebuilding auto hubs

If this is in the wrong spot, I apologize.

I have a 1995 F-150 with 51.000 miles on it. The original owner that I got it from did not drive it much. The truck itself is in great shape and the drive line is solid.

I tried the 4 wheel drive when I first got it about 9 months ago and it worked. Well it never fails, it snowed and guess what. The 4 wheel drive does not work. I marked the front drive shaft and engaged the 4x4, the drive shaft turns. Great the transfer case is working. It must be the front locking hubs. They are the automatic type. Has any one ever rebuilt one, and if so how much of a pain is it?

Thanks, Andrew

I never have, but I know an option is to replace them with manual locking style, if you want to go that route.

Yea, that thought crossed my mind. I have several months before it snows, so I have a bit of time.

Several months until it snows? Lucky ba$tard. We'll be getting a few inches tomorrow.

Even though it isn't snowing, don't forget about mud season!
