Default rebuilt 5.4L V3 F150 2010 XTR Review

I just wanted to report on a rebuilt engine I put into my 2010 F150 XTR Crew Cab. I was very weary, but I have been super impressed with this company and wanted to pass it on. Attached is a photo of a test I did on my fuel economy after 75KM.

The place I used was Crosstown Engines, in Toronto Ontario. I see a lot of adverts for USA rebuilt shops but I never saw one for Canada so I was going into this blind. I asked the owner, whose name is Lou if he had much experience with F150 5.4 V3 rebuilds, he was like he just rebuilt over 200 of them in the last 6 months. While mine was being rebuilt he had 4 others being done side by side, so I was the the 5th motor. So these guys have a lot of experience with this engine and they know exactly what to put into it to get the best performance and long life.

When I got my car back from my Mechanic who installed the engine, Bay Side Auto out of Port Rowan, Ontario. I was wowed! The fuel economy on the new engine was very impressive. I have attached proof of the mileage driving from exit 27 on 403 hwy to Port Rowan, ON, where I live... its about 75KM, I was able to get the economy to 11.2L/100km for you US folks 4.78 gal/100miles. That includes stops at few lights and full stops on turns, which there were many. Yes I did my very very best to economize as much as I could.... but since I did it for 75KM, I have no doubt I could do it for 750KM. Mind you my regular aggressive style of driving is closer to 13.5L/100Km . Still that is way better than what I could do with this engine when it was brand new, most of the time my aggressive style translated to 16/17L per 100Km. So This rebuild is very impressive.

The engine runs super quiet and Crosstown even gave me a credit for my core, but because they are so busy and have so many cores to check, that took 6 weeks after I dropped off the engine. Understood, they are a busy shop, and I am so elated with this motor that I would not mind waiting twice as long.

There were conditions that they made sure that I kept in order for the motor to run a long life and for us not to have any problems. I included those on the attachment. I gave that paper to my mechanic, and told him not to cut any corners and he followed the directions line for line.

So if you have 5.4 that needs to be replaced, you can not go wrong with Crosstown Engines. Feel free to ask any questions. Like I said, I am just a customer who went to them blind, and was very impressed with their work. I do not work there nor have any interest in the shop other than to pass on a good review to those that may be in the same predicament as I was.
