Default Ticking in 5.4

I have an '04 F150 with a 5.4 Triton. There is a ticking sound in the motor - any suggestions. It's not a tap but more of a tick.

Default No problem

Every one of those motors do that. They get a little miles on them and start. Really nothing to worry about. I hear at least 3 a day come in my shop. They all sound the same.

Check spark plugs and make sure you do not have one backing it self out. Had a ticking late last year and found a plug loose

good luck

Had the same ticking in my 2000 F150 5.4L. Wasn't always there at first but as time went by it increased. Turned out to be the injectors needed cleaning. The dealer did it and solved the problem. I never detected a performance issue, but it was annoying.
