Default Towing capacity

I have a 2016 f150 xl sport 4x4 2.7 ecoboost with the 3.55 rear. It's rated for 6500 pounds. Some models are rated for up to 7500 pounds. My question is does anyone know what the difference is for the higher towing capacity. The Ford chart shows the 2.7 ecoboost with the 3.55 rear supercab 6ft bed at 7500 pounds. What is my truck missing that makes it only 6500 pound capacity? Thanks

Thumbs up

Welcome to the site..

Generally the capacity/loads vary due to cab styles and wheel bases.
Also, 4x4 and 4x2 rates offset limits. As well if you have a Payload/towing package carry rates will be increased..

The Body Builders is a good source of build info if you need it...

Thanks for the feedback. Looking on the Ford chart for my motor, rear, cab and wheel base it says 7500. I do have a tow package. I installed a brake controller. I don't really know what is involved in the payload package.
