Default TPMS Compatability

Hello, I have recently purchased a new 2016 F150 Lariat and traded in my old 2010 XTR. My tire size on both is 275/65/18. i kept my winter tires for the new truck. I bought the rims and sensors from Ford 2 years ago. When installed everything was fine, tire pressures were read and indicated. A couple days later i had a TPMS fault and it wouldn't display any pressures just a couple dashes in their place. The next day it would display all my pressures except the right front. A day later everything was fine. the dealership told me the TPMS sensors i have are not compatable with my new 2016 F150. And of course they indicated $400 bucks to change them. Had I been told this would happen when i bought my new truck, i would have included it in the financing. After spending alot of money, i'm not prepared to cough it up. Is this possible? They said it is just coming out that the sensors do that. i would appreciate any feedback plse.

thanks.
