Default transfer case

I have a 2018 F150 Lariet 4x4 with 92,000 miles. I very seldom use the 4x4. And of course the other day I got stuck in 2wd. When I went to put it in 4H it said temporarily disengaged.

My Ford dealer has tried everything (so they say) and can not get it to go in 4wd. Now they are say I need to replace the transfer case at a cost of around $2000.

This just doesn't seem right as even when I have used the 4wd it is not rough 4 wheeling, etc.

Anybody have any thoughts?

Anytime we get a high estimate for work required, there is nothing wrong with getting addl estimates.
Suggest you might consider a shop with a good reputation or another dealership..

So I took my 2018 F150 to another Ford Dealer and they are indicating it is a "Body Control Module" issue that needs replaced.

Said there's nothing wrong with the transfer case!!

Interesting!

OK So I got another dealer to look at my issue, The computer code was the "body control module" however when they got into it they found that the right front IWE
was broken. This part had just been replaced 2 weeks ago by the 1st dealer, and evidentially installed incorrect and caused it to break. So had it replaced and all
good to go and working like it should.

Thanks for the update. Glad you got it straightened out.

The 2000 estimate makes you wonder sometime. Your new dealership just gained another customer.
