I think those "old" 1/2, 3/4 & 1 Ton ratings are obsolete with the introduction of the Super Duty trucks. My F-250 Super Duty came with a Load Certification of 1931 pounds (in the bed). That makes my truck a "1 ton".
The F-350 has an even GREATER load capacity but will not exceed a SD 250's towing capacity. My new 5th wheel trailer has a hitch weight of 1910 pounds and a GVWR of 12900. Neither of these weights exceed the capacity of my truck.

i didnt think they ever made an F250 with the 4.6...one easy identifier is an F250 will have 8 lug rims

looks like we're all learning something today. check out this kijiji add.
http://calgary.kijiji.ca/c-cars-vehi...AdIdZ189048950

the super duty started production in 99, but the old style went well into 97. so what happened in 98? so what is this? i've seen a few of them around too.......

this thing looks like an F150, but has a 7 bolt wheel/axle. and F250 badging. my buddies old F150 still had the 5 bolt pattern... i've seen some of the heavy halfs with this kind of bolt pattern too, they are rare to say the least.

question is whats the difference underneith? frame? susp? etc?
