Default Won't shift

My 2001 F-150, 4.6, 2 WD will not shift. It is in 2nd gear ??? It has 330k miles on it. Per suggestions from people I trust I swapped transmissions. I still have the same problem. Have tried shifting it manually, and that didn't[ work. another friend suggested disconecting the battery, both cables and leave them for 10 minutes and then re-connect them and then put the key in the switch and turn the key on and wait for 2 minutes and then turn the keyl off and then start the truck . That did not work either! Help!!

Some vehicle electrical systems are designed to constantly monitor voltages/conditions within the system and if any are detected that could cause some damage , the system is placed in limp mode so the vehicle can be driven to a shop for repairs.. I suspect that is what is occurring here. Some detailed testing is probably required with the use of special equip that you may not have.At this point I don't see any quick fix and a good shop should be consulted for checking and possible repair.
