2001 7.3 l leaking oil into valley
 

help! oil leaking into valley and then on ground. just replaced o-rings on hpop lines. once i was in there o-rings were fine on hpop lines. changed them anyway. is it possible the turbo pedestal o-rings are leaking. this really aggravating. seems like trial and error and money spent. thx for any responses

Depends on how far 'forward' the leak is,, Line, or fitting orings? Both? There's also a plug that like to leak on the HPOP, down low/rear under the fuel heater. If the valley looks dry under the HPOP then the ped may have a leak. Pressure wash/steam the valley and run the engine to pinpoint the leak.. Here's a pic of one I did a while back. You can see the oil puddle, and the plug down below the FH..

washed and degreased valley. looks like possibly hpop gasket. oil is all up front in valley right under fuel bowl.

help. replaced gasket on hpop and now won't start
 

replaced gasket on hpop and topped up hpop reservoir and now wont start. i realize you have to get air out of the system but i rolled that over about 6 times till i killed battery but no start. how long does it take to get air out of system

You really, really have to crank these engines after hpop repairs, as you're not just getting oil up to the hpop, but you'll also have to get the air out, which only happens when the injectors work it out.
When i had these apart, I'd usually take the valve covers off and take out the glow plugs and let them spin to get the system primed. Otherwise, you can run the risk of overheating the starter and killing it, too.
One other thing to look for here is a leaking pump itself. These had a plug on the bottom (not the easiest to see) that leaked. If you take a bright light and a pocket mirror, you can look underneath the pump and see what's comming from where. It might help in the diag.

thank you greasemark. was thinking maybe i didnt torque the bolt on front enough. i replaced o-rings on the fittings for high pressure lines as well as reservoir plug o-ring and gasket.

i'm having the same problem . did you resolve this by turning it over an over, or did you do something different
