2016 F250 Diesel Turbo towing
Hi all,
We have purchased a 2016 F250 Diesel turbo short bed. We've looked up towing capacity at 15,100 pounds. We are new to towing and are looking at upgrading our travel trailer to a 5th Wheel toy hauler weighing 13,600 pounds. Loaded, we will be pushing the max (this would not include water, but would include the toy as we can normally fill up with water closer to the campground). Thoughts on this? Friends or ours have tandem pulled well over their weight limit (Dodge 2500 diesel pulled about 22,000 pounds). Curious to pushing this 15,100 or are we good if we are plus/minus 200 pounds. (I realize the max weights but wonder how many of you may have pushed this limit...obviously I understand blowing an engine or "stopping" with brakes or fuel economy can be concerns)
Thanks!

Welcome to the site.
Your rig is a 4x4, Crew? Obliviously a SRW.
I've towed 'heavy' with mine, and wouldn't be overly worried about 100/200lbs. But that in mind, if your ever over weight and run into a problem that involves the law, then it could cause issues. With water, gray/black tanks empty, or close to out on the road, would seem it would or should give you quite a bit of accessory capacity. Keeping in mind anything loaded in the bed, passengers and gear in the truck needs to be considered. I would bet that quite a few large 5er's out there are exceeding limits, or close. Legal=good. As far as the truck upwards towards its limit/capacity, they are towing beasts. I've had mine there, and impressed as to the drive-ability. As long as you stay aware of braking distances, grades and such..
The difference in the 350SRW and 250 is a 4" lifting block added into the rear spring stack to gain another 600lbs capacity. Basically, leveling the extra squat for the added weight carry.
My 250 pulling my dozer across Northern CA.
